PCM,ECM,ECU,BCM,GEM

Lots of names for various vehicle computer
modules & they seldom fail

No signs & nothing you can check & little
a professional can check,some day the shops
will be up to speed, but that is 20 years way

Why not tell us the complete story,with details,test
result & such or go to a dealer or local shop for that
secret your keeping about the car

before you waste more money go and have the fault codes checked as it may be some other faulty sensor.

Any testing,wiring or adapting, involving a vehicle ECU,
would require a wiring diagram & the highest level of
technical skills

most likely a faulty turn signal switch

it ant your brain,you need to change the speed gauge its call your speed cluster,it happen to me i put a new one on then never had anymore promblem with mine.

if it works leave well alone,lots of cars appear noisey in reverse with a manual gearbox

give your vin number to a Mercedes dealer and the can get you the correct brain for that vehicle

If as you say....Nothing is happening at all when you turn the key, you appear to have one of two problems. A faulty starter motor--or--- A faulty ignition switch. If you can tap the starter motor while another person keeps the key turned to the start position, and the engine now starts you now know it is a starter problem. When doing this PLEASE MAKE SURE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF GEAR.
If it should start up, or even engage the starter motor while IN GEAR, serious injuries could happen, and I do not mean to your car.
