According to Hollander Interchange, 2000 is a year of it's own and does not interchange with a 2003. I am not sure what the difference would be, but Hollander is the interchagne experts and they say it's a no.
It depends on if you are talking a direct replacement or doing some modification. A direct replacement engine, according to Hollander interchange would be for a 2000 only. But physically many engines will fit, you will have to make modifications to the wiring, computer, accessories, trans......ect.
Rebuild your engine or junk the truck. I refuse to work on these...Way too much trouble...If you want to replace it. 99 to 02, i believe. Just replace all the sensors and such off the old engine.
CHECK FOR LOW COOLANT.YOUR CLUTCH FAN COULD BE BAD IT CAUSING ENGINE TO OVERHEAT.WHEN ENGINE GET HOT THE SILICONE OIL IN FAN CLUTCH GET HOT CAUSE THERMOSTAT SPRING EXPAND CAUSE FAN CLUTCH TO LOCK IN TURN FAST WITH ENGINE TO COOL OFF ENGINE. IF FAN IS WOBBLY OR FREEWHEELING ITS BAD.
try replacing the oil sending unit, it is located at the back of the intake. it is about two inches long. it is black. it ties into the fuel injection system.hope this helps.
The actual engine assembly will fit but you need to determine if there were any changes made between the two years in the computer or wiring harness. Also make sure that both engines have the exact same transmissions as sometimes the bellhousing patterns are different. I'm pretty sure yours is a direct replacement though, providing both engines are the same displacement..Most scrapyards have an interchange manual that may help you. (they have to know these things...it's their business)
Lets see thats the center plug on the drivers side of the engine. I dont have a Bravada handy to look but I am assuming that either the steering shaft is in the way. You should be able to take the drivers front wheel off and use a long exstension and reach through to the plug and remove it with no problem.
The donor engine may not be compatible with your system. I came across that on an Aerostar van once. The donor engine came from the wrong interchangible year of Aerostar and didn't work at all until I installed the correct year engine harness to communicate with the factory ECM.
