Try cleaning the battery terminals first...after that you may need to jump start vehicle...if it runs remove the red power cable-if it stops you have an alternator out..if not replace battery.

We have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 pickup and now when we try to start it just clicks. Is it the starter. email address [email protected] By the way we have a new battery.

could be the starter, but first try to clean the battery cable ends, try this next time it clicks turn on the head lights and see if the lights go out when it clicks if they do it is a power supply problem ( battery, battery cable ends, ground cable, etc. ) if they stay on it is the starter....GOOD LUCK

It is possible to plug the main connector in upside down. Check to see if this is what you did. Other than that, does the engine roll over?
