Hi Leonciomanal, This is not a quick answer type of question. Do you have a timing light? If not, then you'll need to get one. If you have one, connect it to the number 1 spark plug and aim the light at the timing mark on the flywheel of the timing belt. Loosen the distributor cap and turn it slowly to adjust the timing as necessary.
Sounds like timing belt not on correctly. Check timing marks are aligned correctly when installing timing belt. This vehicle should have 2-3 marks to be aligned when installing belt.marks should be on cam gear/ crankshaft gear and intermediate shaft if engine is equipped with it.
Hi
There is a hole in the top of the bell housing with a pointed moulded arrow and a zero or line stamped into the flywheel. The camshaft needs a special lock tool to keep it timed.
On the Bottom the main Pully check on the Motor Base Case for Top Mark this is your Zero Mark Timing like this 10 5 2 0 2 5 10
Cap Distributor it will be 0 2 5 10
The timming marks for TDC Are on the flywheel.Remove plug at the top of the gearbox bell housing there you will see a pointer on the caseing.Line that up with the one on the flywheel. The camshaft has a hole in the sprocket.Line this hole up with the hole in the cylinder head useing a 8mm bolt.thats all your timming lined up.
Put the engine at TDC compression stroke , Thats when the valves are
both closed on No 1 cyl and the piston is on its compression stroke
.then align all cam and crank marks. set distributor/rotor button on No 1 cylinder (rotor
pointing at #1 plug wire) . rotate engine 2 revolutions and recheck all
marks. Fire away
timming marks on cams face each other 3 and 9 o clock crank mark at about 6 o clock mark in cover and sump auto adjuster arrow should be in v mark to set this requires turning water pump by loosening water pump bolts slightly be warned some times this causes pump o ring seal to leak if turning.
