Bought this car a few months ago, things are starting to go wrong, I've already had to have the handbrake fixed, but this has now already come loose again, but this belt that clicks or ticks as it goes round is worrying me, is this the next thing to snap?? If it does will it cause any damage to the car?
The timing belt is crucial. And a broken belt can cause bent valves and serious engine damage. Since you state that the belt tensioner was replaced, was the timing belt replaced as well? I assume you have a warranty, and I highly recommend you use it. A new noise coming from where a major repair was just completed is never a good sign.
Yes timing belt was replaced as well, from Sytner garage, I mentioned the new noise to the mechanic, he was a bit baffled, but said it was a belt similar to a bicycle belt that was nowhere near the timing belt, and as the car has done 111,000 miles I should expect some wear...I wouldnt have thought that a diesel engine should show signs of such wear after just 111,000 miles, not a BMW surely?

Sounds like you may have a worn out CV joint and the clicking may stop with an oil change. Good Luck

have your charging system checked to make sure alternator is charging to specs, also make sure no light are left on, (trunk light ,glove box mirror light.it sounds like you may have a draw somewhere, may be alternator or something is on, hope this is helpful.
