How to seat the steering wheel properly on a 1991 pontiac 6000 le

My tilt steering was all wobbly and after watching you tube videos it showed that three torx screws at the bottom of the steering shaft have become loose. I was ablt to get to them and tighten them but now that I reassembled everything the steering seems worse. What did I do wrong or overlook?

There are actually 4 bolts but in order to get them all you have to pull the tilt pins and the lower bowl.3 should have helped tho,Make sure the spring is under the lock plate and the snap ring is in the right spot.

SOURCE: where do i locate the heater core in a 1991 pontiac 6000le

The heater core is inside the heater case. It is the same plastic case that houses the blower motor. Usually they are replaced under the hood near the firewall or under the dash. I would look at the free online repair manuals provided by parts stores such as autozone.com . They should have the info you need for your particular model.

SOURCE: steering wheel column very loose only holds in up position

I've had experience with two of these cars now. The mounting positions where the steering rack bolts to the fire wall rust away leaving the rack floating. Usually long before the rack starts to float the car leaks . Water starts to come in where the firewall rusted out. Its dangerous and should not be driven like this.

Steering wheel is loose and wobbly

If the loose motion is coming from the tilt part, there are three bolts inside the column that need to be tightened up.
Someone would need to remove the steering wheel to access the bolts.

Pontiac 6000 steering wheel removal

Buy a 10 or 12 dollar steering wheel removal tool from a parts store. Kind of like a gear puller, but designed for steering wheel removal. Pulls them right off.
The nut you took off makes the wheel a press fit when tightened, and not easy to get off without the puller.
Good luck.

89 old ciera cross ref.

Column shift tilt wheel:

Ciera '89, '90
Buick Century '89, '90
Chevrolet Celebrity '89, '90
Pontiac 6000 '89, '98

Column shift w/o tilt

Olds Ciera '89, '90
Buick Century '89, '90
Chevrolet Celebrity '89, '90
Pontiac 6000 '89, '90

Floor shift...same options. Tilt and/or no tilt is a matter of preference as the wiring harness is the same, so either will work. Floor shift is floor shift only,'89 and '90 Ciera, Century, Celebrity, 6000.

Hope this helped.

Loose tilt wheel on pontiac 6000 1984

You need to remove the steering wheel and the security lock plate, then basically rebuild by replacing any loose and/or damaged parts.
Its not for beginners.. but if you're patient and have moderate mechanical ability,, you can do it.

1991 chevy ck1500 steering column , tilt wheel . Over the years i guess pulling mysely up in seat the tilt wheel is loose. Can u explain or a diagram of what it takes to repair ... thank you

in order to fix this you will need a steering wheel puller and a press I can't remember the name of it but once you get the wheel off you have to press the ring and then get the lock off and then it is pretty simple you can do it with a flat bar and some sockets bot the proper tools are cheap enough that they are always handy
