SOURCE: white smoke cuming out tailpipe 3400 v6

I would almost bet you have a blown head gasket or a cracked head. White smoke at the exhaust, loosing coolant, moisture on the underside of the oil fill cap, and on the dip stick are all signs of a blown gasket. The fact that there is no coolant in the oil does not mean it does not have a blown gasket. To find out for sure remove all spark plugs, disconnect the coil wire, and then run a compression test on all cylinders. If you find one or more with low compression you have a blown gasket. Do not drive this car any longer until you get this repaired. Serious engine damage will occur if you continue to drive it.

If white smoke is coming out of your tail pipe is is burning antifreeze. However have it checked closely. While it could be a head gasket, the 3400 is noted for the intake gasket leaking. Have a pressure test done before you pay for something that you don't need.

Also there is a way to permanently repair the head gasket if it is a real leak as long as it still runs. Check out Barr's Leak head gasket repair and follow the directions to the letter. do not skip any thing. It works I have repair a dozen cars with this.

Hope this helps

I need to know how to change valve cover gaskits on a 2001 monterio sport

Valve cover gaskets are pretty straight forward. Usually 4-8 bolts to removal on the valve cover and its off. Make sure peripheral things are removed.

Engine knock in park and above idle

Have you checked the oil pressure.

Remove the engine drive belt and run to eliminate any accessories causing noise.

Check valve rockers, could have a bad hydraulic cam follower that is not pumping up.

Could be more serious, why did the head gasket fail, might be an associated problem with that if engine overheated ect.

How doe i put a head gaskit in my 1992 chevy silveroto 350 v8 thae simpilist way please and mabey some diagrams

Lots of work. Best bet get a Chilton manusl covering that year from the library or Ebay. Real quick disconnect battery, drain coolant, remove intake manifold, remove any accessories on the side of the engine you're working on , like compressor. Remove valve cover, loosen all valve rockers, remove all 8 push rods, remove head bolts, pull head. Lots of smaller stuff I skipped. You will definately need the specs to reset valve/rocker, torque values. Gasket set, change oil because there will be water in it. Better have a friend who has tried this before too. Can be done but it's tough to do the first time.

Overheating. I've replaced the thermostat, the radiator, and the water pump. The fan seems to be working fine. I think it is a head gasket leak. What is the procedure for replacemnt?

check for an oily substance in radiator and bubbles on the end of the dip stick if one or both signs are there then it will be the head gaskit at least or a cracked head . get the head crack tested by a mechanic before just replacing the head gaskit
