Use any dc adapter with suitable output power (at least 75 w and of course 12 v) connect the +ve to the top pin of socket and the -ve to the side connectors of the socket or use (AC to DC Car Cigarette Lighter Socket Adapter)

You should be able to go to an electronic store and buy a converter from 220 to 12 volt D C. If there is a truck stop near you they will have them.

SOURCE: 12 Volt Cigarette Lighter / Accessory dead

Most likely just replace it. You could pull the fuse and then use a small screwdriver to try and pull the tabs inside the receiver in toward the center a little. It could be that repeated insertion and extraction of the lighter or accessory plug has bent them outward enough that they're not making sufficient contact to power what you plug in. If that doesn't work, replace it and then put the fuse back in.

Testimonial: "Yeah, that was the issue. I had to pull off the black plastic faceplate that borders the radio and HVAC control unit (it's held in with metal clips bent into a triangular shape, made to provide a bit of resistance, but they pop in and out with no damage) to get to it. Thanks for the quick response, sorry about the late reply. Thanks again!"

12 volt cigarette lighter socket

the lighter socket will be straight 12 volts and the GPS may require less (5.5 volts) and the different size is to prevent the over voltage and damaging the GPS unit. There may be an adaptor that will do the job and it may have a built- in transformer for the purpose.

I unplug my battery , and when I plug again my radio doesnt work , the radio ask me for a code what I do?

Each time you disconnect the battery, the computer loses all codes for security system, radio, etc. If you know the code for radio, enter it into radio using the number buttons. To prevent this again in the future, you should purchase a power cord for the computer. It has the lighter plug on one end and a plug you connect to the car's computer. Plug the lighter plug into any 12 volt plug (not the lighter socket in your car)...you can purchase a portable jump starter with the 12 volt socket. The purpose of this is to keep the car's computer "powered" while you disconnect the battery.

Not Idleing right

First off, connect something to the cigaret lighter that has 12 volts, and make sure the lighter plug in socket is working, then remove the battery cables and clean the cable ends real good, like shiny clean, and the battery post.It sounds like the alternator is having a hard time charging the battery, and the ignition system requires a lot of volts, and amps just to run, when turning the fan on,the engine revs up,this tells me it is possibly causing the alternator to put out more volts.

*** lighter not working

The lighter elements go bad a lot, you can get them at any auto store. If it's the socket (The female part), and your navigation doesn't get power from it, you can also replace it if it looks rusty or damaged. First make sure your fuse is good to it. If yes, you need to get at the socket where you will see two wires connecting to it. One is a ground, and the other is positive from your battery. If you have 12 to 14 volts between these, your socket is bad!

Please help me with power in cig lighter

Hi, grab a voltmeter and test volts at car lighter connector, near to car lighter socket, if there is volts in there (uncommon) , then check for short or broken contact on car lighter socket, or replace the first socket connected in line.

If there is no voltage getting to cig lighter, check the two connections at the back of the fuse box, on the cigarette lighter fuse.

If there is volts only on one side, then fuse is gone again, in that case there is a short on wiring, maybe on one of lighters, locate it and fix it.

If there is power on both sides of the fuse, then fix or replace wiring between fuse box and cigarette lighter, one wire is broken.

If there is no power on both sides of lighter fuse, then fix the wiring between fuse box cig. lighter contact and battery, if this is too complicate you can even build a new wiring and solder in place of the old one.

If the lighters have more than one fuse, do the same job for both lighter. Cig. lighters do not use a relay, and there is no additional fuse, the above procedure is enough to fix any possible problem on such a simple device.

If you have no practice with this kind of repair on car electrical system, then better to go to a car electrician or mechanic rather then messing up the car electric system.

Please do not forget to leave us feedback afterward, that is important for us.

Many thanks.
