First secure the vehicle on Jack stands remove both drive shafts disconnect linkage from transfer case unhook wiring from transfer case, if possible rent a transmission Jack they are equipped for also removing transfer cases do not try this alone have someone help you remove transfer case mount bolts raise transmission and transfer case with Jack under transfer case remove the cross member from the frame very slowly let the jack down about three or four inches with transfer case secure on Jack remove the bolts surrounding the back of the transmission there should be six bolts holding the transfer case on the back of your transmission when you start pulling the middle and bottom bolts you will loose transmission fluid once removed just shake the transfer case loose then pull it back lowering as you go, once done remove it from the jack readjust the jack under your transmission Jack up slightly to expose the transmission bell housing bolts use a swivel socket and long extension depending on the year older takes a 9/16 the newer ones take a 15mm break the bolts loose you may need to remove the flywheel cover remove 3 torque converter bolts again year determines size using a flywheel wrench or you can turn the flywheel using a good pair of players unplug wiring remove shifter linkage or cable from the transmission with some pressure on the jack remove all the bell housing bolts there are 6 of them and depending on weather the transmission has been out or not you may have to pry the transmission back some also watch your dip stick tube one of the bell bolts will be holding it in place remove the bolt then place a pan under the transmission to catch fluid when you pull the dip stick tube

Can I put a 1998 chevy silverado motor in a 1981 ford 100?

I guess you could, but it won't be easy. I'm sure the transmission won't mate up without an adapter plate. You'll have to build a whole new engine mounting system. And you'll have to bring most of the wiring along with the ECM from the 1998 Chevy engine to make it run in the Ford. You'll have no gauges that work, because the Chevy gauges get their inputs from the ECM and your Ford gauges will have nothing to provide information.

I changed transmission oil and filter on my 2005 chevy cobalt. i filled with 6.7 quarts of oil. How do I check the level on the transmission.

If you have the owner's manual, it should tell you. Or look on the dipstick, it may say something like "Check warm in Park". Usually, with the car warmed up, park on a level surface, put it in Park with the engine running (set the parking brake, block the wheels) and then check it.
Do not overfill! If it is too full, drain some out, or you will damage the transmission.
I assume you know where your transmission dipstick is? The tube is about 3/4 inch in diameter, the handle is usually near the firewall. (This is not the engine oil dipstick.)

Chevy Transmission problems

First thing is to read out, with a rented scanner, whatever codes the computer is storing instead of just replacing parts. You didn't say whether the transmission is automatic or manual--there are different troubleshooting procedures for each type. Is the shift a floor or column type?

1993 chevy cavalier 2.2l 4 c. sparks and wire order

it fires 1-3-4-2. The coil pack is marked 1-4, match them up with your cylinders, and you're good to go! Cylinder 1 is on the front of the engine, the side opposite from the transmission. Find your alternator and that's at cylinder 1.
