it sounds to me like a connection problem. check all connection and try spraying some WD40 on them. it will help keep moisture out and clean electrical connection
check for screws or caps covering screws in the plastic trim.if there aren't any take a flashlight and look under the seat for clips that release the plastic, it may just pry off.

The front and rear turn signal should blink on one side. If the tail lamps are not working, it could be a fuse or a problem with the wiring. And the tail lamps are on the same circuit as the front parking lamps.
depending on your vehicle options, turn the key to the off position and
then either push the trip reset or the select/reset button and turn the
key to the "on" position just before the vehicle "start" position, then
wait 10 seconds and the light should go off. if not make sure the
outside lights are off and set the parking brake and try again
