THE STARTER IS NOT A GOOD PLACE TO GROUND YOUR RADIO THE BATTERY IS CONSIDERED THE ONLY GOOD GROUND, BUT IF THIS IS NOT FEASIBLE YOU CAN USE A BODY GROUND. IF YOU ARE INSTALLING A HIGH END SYSTEM THEM RUN POWER AND GROUND TO BATTERY FOR BEST RESULTS

The entire frame and chassis of the vehicle is grounded via a heavy gauge cable from the (-) post of the battery. Various jumpers are used to ensure the (-) 12 volt side of the battery is present on body panels, framework, etc. throughout the vehicle.

The *best* place to connect electrically operated devices (audio especially) in the vehicle is AT the (+) & (-) battery posts - or as CLOSE to those points as practical. Doing so, will reduce the chances of objectionable "noise" being introduced to the radio on the power leads. This is especially true when trying to connect the ground or (-) lead(s) for equipment. "Dirty" power can actually be heard through speakers as static, hiss, popping, whine, etc. The battery is the cleanest source of power in the vehicle and should be used whenever clean power is essential.

I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 I am trying to put a aftermarket radio in but I can't figure out what the ground wire in the dash is

ground wires are normally black
get a multimeter and set it on ohms resistance
put one end on the wire and the other to metal ground
if it is a ground wire the gauge reading will be all zeros as that indicates a circuit

Can I use a 1995 dodge ram 1500 starter in a 2002 dodge ram 1500

I guess the short answer is no.
It depends on the engine and trans, but the starter for a 1995 model 5.2 is different from a 2002 model with a 4.7 engine.

I have a 2005 dodge 5.7 litre Hemi. During the cold months in WI it doesn't want to turn over and start. I recently put in a new battery ( high end) and that does nothing. Any thoughts?

Check all the ground wires, possibly upgrade most Dodges have pretty weak grounding wires as do most domestics in general, American wiring just isnt as good as the Japs or Europeans. Also check the cables going to your starter. Make sure to check the hot and the ground on this one.

I have a 1998 dodge ram I recently replaced the radio antenna and now my stereo does not work and neither do my headlights

The new antenna is not properly grounded, or the power antenna is not a powered one. The radio uses it to ground, or the radio and light circuit needs alternate ground.

1995 dodge ram 1500, the battery is fully charged but there is no power to anything at all including interior lights and headlights, horn etc.

Trace the Positive (+) wire from the battery to the starter. Ensure that the connection at the starter is tight.

Also, check that the battery connections are cleaned up shiny and new with a wire brush, and connected tightly.

Also, check that the ground connection at the frame or body, from the Negative (-) wire is tight.

If the above steps don't solve the problem, look for a main fusible link or fuse that has blown that is close to the thick positive wire.

Good luck on this repair.

Wiring diagrams for 1995 dodge ram 1500 sparkplug sequence

On that I believe it's a coil pack & should have the numbers of the cylinders on it. If it has a distributor, then simply go to www.autozone.com & find all the info you need. No,I don't work there, lol. Just a good place for solid info.
