I have a Mitshubishi Montero sport 1999 the transmision range sensor is malfunction. Where does it goes ?

SNG O2 sensor is just below $100

they may claim being made with the same quality and both are tagged "direct fit" for easy installation.

On the side of transmission

Range Sensor/Gear Selector/shift lever

Look on the transmission where the shift linkage hooks up to the transmission.

Hi Sc, The job is labour intensive and may solve the problem. I wonder if the fluid in the tranny has ever been replaced? It's meant to be replaced at least once a year. If it smells burned have it replaced. Ask your shop to check the gearbox and engine mountings and in the event of your vehicle having rear wheel drive, the universal joints on the prop shaft. I had this issue. You may have a bad sensor on the transmission. There are a couple of sensors on there. When mine came on, It would not shift correctly. I would have to turn off the car, sometimes, and restart it for it to correct.

If you have a check engine and possibly srs light on and your vehicle is seemingly slow to accelerate in dirve you could possibly be looking at a faulty shaft speed sensor or transmission range sensor

Bing.com is a great search engine for that. Its what I used when installing the TPS on my 2001 Chevy. Just remember the flow goes towards the engine.

Get a small long hose and pump out of filler tube with Jack pump or drill pump from Harbor Fright $10.
