Obd ii code reader does not work on new car

no all code readers work on every make of car , unless it cost many thousands of dollars there are readers that have the protocols for european makes , others for asian makes , others for Gm , others for ford and so on. the code reader is probably not suitable for your make of car

How can I fix the problem of "Check Transmission" light which comes on when driving on the highway?

can you get the codes rescanned with a OBD II diagnostic reader as the other code you've given is not OBD compliant , this new code may give more information , the info you have supplied so far would imply the PCM has a fault but will need to know more about the symptoms etc

Trouble codes for honda accord 1993 v-tec

According with the year, this is refer at OBD I codes, the actual scanner reader just work witj OBD II fauld codes reader (1996-upper), then I suggest check some Honda repair manual in your local library or ask your dealer.

Are you sure that is a Code 18 ??? Isn't listed under Honda OBD I Fault Codes.

I know that isnt the answer that you-re waiting, but hope this helps.

Also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Where is the obd receptacle located?

you can also read the OBD system by using the check engine light itself, simple rotating the key on and off will cause the light to flash. the exact number of times to rotate will be found in a repair manual. P.s. the OBD connector is under the steering wheel

Service engine light comes on

This GM's definition of this code:
P1404 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Closed Position Performance
The most common reasons are either the EGR valve position sensor is defective, or the EGR valve is not fully closed due to carbon.

Engine code access

Yes,  or go to autozone and let them read the codes for you for free (other parts stores may do for free also).
Your's is an OBD 1 (not OBD II) I think,  check with the parts store for sure,  should be < $40 or so for a simple model.
