What to use to clean a vw golf 4 throttle body

If its like any other model of VW after replacing the throttle body you carry "basic settings" with diagnostic equipment.

Try cleaning throttle body with throttle body cleaning fluid. You can pick this up at any auto supply depot. Just follow the instructions on the spray.

just clean the throttle body... or use seafoam

right hand side of the intake housing where the butterfly is ----a black plastic box held on with 4 star headed screws ,the carbon tracks inside are pitted and burnt

1. First check all vacume hoses for leaks. 2. Get CEL codes read from computer. 3. Throttle body cleaning

Tell him to clean the electrical connector at the throttle body with 90% rubbing alcohol. He may want to use a nylon brush on the contact pins while cleaning. I'm pretty sure the car needs a throttle adaptation performed also. Find a shop with a Vag Com scanner, they can do it for you.

first clean throttle body out with carb cleaner and some clean cloth , if the throttle flap is dirty the car will stall

clean the throttle body out only four bolts hold it on,you will need to reset basic setting afterwards,quite a common fault

i would start by cleaning out the throttle body. they collect soot and not have to be a lot either for it to mess up the idle speed, i had trhis on mine soon as i dipped the clutch to slow down the rpm dropped to about 400 to stall, i cleaned throttle body out ( taking air intake off and wipe round inside and the butterfly will be enough) and now it idles and the rpm dont drop below 900
