This might help, generally the positive battery connection goes on top.

SOURCE: Bought a camper top for my 2005 Ford F150 PU.

The after market CHMSL ( Center High Mount Stop Lamp ) is in the wire harness bundle on the driver's side frame rail, under the plastic cover. Some have found it easier to get to it in the driver's side kick panel. When you pull up the driver's side door sill, pull the carpet back, and you will find the grommet for getting into the cab of the truck

Here is the page from the EVTM for the Stop / Turn lamps that shows the after market CHMSL connection

SOURCE: i have 1985 ford f150

On the battery side should be the blk/org (alternator wire) and yel/blk-w/fusible link with of course the positive battery cable, On the other big terminal should be the other yellows, for your small terminal marked with an "i" should be the red/blue if it has the small terminal, if not on the big terminal opposite of the battery.

I have a 93 ford f150. I'm switching the starter from one with a selenoid to no selenoid. Having major problems. Can you help

Use a Ford remote starter solenoid, here is a Standard brand part number and where to order it cheap.

Below is a simple wiring diagram of a remote starter solenoid, since you say the new starter will not have a solenoid hook directly to the starter B+ battery post. Mount the remote solenoid as close as possible to the starter, use bulk battery cable or see if they sell it in made up sizes of different lengths. Use the right color cable which is red (B+)

Can someone tell me how to change a starter on a 2006 ford fusion

For a 4 cylinder, take negative battery cable off, raise and safely support car, it's from underneath. There may be an underbody cover, 7 screws, then on the starter only two electrical connections, battery cable big nut (plastic cover aside first), and small wire nut, both connections on the starter solenoid. Then the starter mounting bolts, a bolt on top side, and a stud on the lower or bottom side, they kind of angled in, one on top, and the stud on the bottom. When those two loose, starter is free. Oh, yes, on the stud mount is a wire harness retainer, off that and set aside.

Reinstall in reverse. Torque: starter motor bolt and stud bolt-18 ft/lbs. battery cable nut -9 ft/lbs. small wire nut - 44inch/lbs. just snug. don't need a torque wrench on any of them, use your best judgement. 18 ft/lbs is pretty solid tight without agonizing it, 44 inch pounds is like 3 1/2 ft/lbs-use a tiny box end wrench or socket and just tight so the wire is not loose.

I have a 2000 focus se, 2.0; needs new starter, where is it located?

The haynes manual isnt really much help with actually locating the starter. I know because i got the haynes manual to try and find the starter on my girlfriends 2000 focus. It tells you how to change it but not where it is located. I just changed the starter so ill give you the rundown. Underneath your car right where the headers connect to the exhaust there will be a black metal plate with 4 bolts about 4 inches wide and 6 inches long. The starter is behind that barely visible. Once you remove that metal plate you can clearly see the bottom of the starter with the starter solenoid on top. There are 3 bolts on the starter but you will only see the head of one bolt from the bottom. DO NOT remove that bolt first. Go to the top of the engine and remove the air hose from the air filter box. You will see 2 bolts that connect into the right side of the starter brace. It is a very tight space but once you get the bolts off now you can go underneath the car and hold the starter while you remove the last bolt. On my 2000 focus the wires dont give you much room for it to drop. My starter only dropped about an inch so you wont have much room to work with the wires which are located on the top of the starter at the right side of the solenoid. The wires lead into a plastic harness with 2 nuts on the right side of the plastic wire harness. Good Luck.

You more than likely need a new starter selinoid. Also make sure your alternator is putting out enough charge,13.2V or higher. You may also have a problem with the red power cable to the starter especially at the starter hook up point. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Need a wiring diagram/picture for the start solenoid on a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L automatic. There are 2 fusible links, the positive battery cable and two other wires. 4 wirese come out of the harness...

There should be one wire with a small eyelet connector on it, this is the starter field wire from the ignition switch and it should be connected to the small terminal on the starter solenoid marked "S" (this wire is usually purple, but it can also be red or pink)

All of the other wires to the starter including any fusible links, will have a larger eyelet connector on them, and they will all connect together with the battery cable, to the large upper terminal on the starter solenoid, sometimes marked "BAT".

Replacemy starter

make sure to disconnect the battery first. The starter is located under the exhaust manifold.... top two bolts come in through the bell housing and thread into the top two holes of the starter (easily accessed top side next to the battery) the bottom bolt is threaded into the bell housing of the transmission easy to get from under the car. Two wires connect to the solonoid on the top of the starter... one is a 13 mm nut the other is a plastic clip once both of them are disconnected the starter is small enough to slide out between the engine and the rack and pinion dropping it down. reverse this to place the new one in... Hope this helps
