Check codes with OBD2 scan tool. The error code was 0. Check Chilton manual for possible answers.
Pullout your gas tank. clean and replace gasoline
Pull the tank and drain all the fluid out . Put in about 2 quarts of metholated spirits and swirl the tank around so that any remaining water is mixed with the spirits ( metho breaks down the surface tension of water and holds it in suspension--any metho left in the tank will pass through the system with no ill effects)
SOURCE: i can't remove the fuel lines
if they are the metal end ones you insert the toolin and push in on line and then pull back see if that works for ya
SOURCE: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME I used scan
This might help you to better understand the EVAP system and help diagnosing the code that was set. Basically there is a leak and you need to find it. Could be very hard to find without a smoke machine. I would take it into a shop to have it tested with a smoke machine and go from there. Some people might say to just replace the gas cap, but if that's not what it is, there is $20-30 wasted, when it could have been put towards an actual diagnoses that will actually help you to fix the problem
DTC P0455 System Description
The control module tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a large leak. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor signal to determine the EVAP system vacuum level. When the conditions for running are met, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve OPEN and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve CLOSED . This allows engine vacuum to enter the EVAP system. At a calibrated time, or vacuum level, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve closed, sealing the system, and monitors the FTP sensor input in order to determine the EVAP system vacuum level. If the system is unable to achieve the calibrated vacuum level, or the vacuum level decreases too rapidly, this DTC sets. Hope i didn't confuse you.
SOURCE: hi there have a 2004
this code is a generic code and doesnt exist on this year. you will need to use a better scan tool to get the correct code, it may or may not be a egr code,
SOURCE: Code po449 possible solutions for 06 Chevy Equinox
The code P0449 indicates a problem with the vent sol.being either stuck
on or off.
This is usually caused by road dirt getting into the vent
sol. due to it's mounting location above the fuel tank.
You have options, one is just simply replace the vent sol. the other and the
correct repair is to install a kit and a filter to the vent sol.
Dirt and dust intrusion into the EVAP canister vent hose assembly, resulting in restricted air flow, may cause about the illumination of the instrument panel SES light, with a DTC of P0446 (Restricted/Blocked EVAP Vent Path).
I think your scan tool is showing that the monitors
for the Evap System have not run yet, thus incomplete
The evap will only run every few days & only if driven
for some time.
The O2 Sensor Data should be on the scan tool
I would replace the front ones if they have 100,000
miles on them
I would look at short term fuel trim also, most likely
it will be 3 or 4 % Pos or Neg & Switching
An Oscilloscope is the only way to look at an O2 Sensor
as far as I have found. A volt meter is a waste of time & won't
give you switching counts in real time
The Converter won't be complete until it warms up to
at least 850 deg or more
