I have replaced the battery.i cranked the engine but it wont start. The orange engine light in the dashbord is on.Can this be the cause of start failure?if it is how do i repair it?
Engines that turn over but won't start are lacking fuel, airflow or spark. Check for pinched/broken/leaking fuel lines. Make certain the air filter is good and free of blockages. Test spark plugs/wires for proper tightness, condition and spark... Could be a fuse, relay or fuel pump its self... If you definitely have good air/fuel flow and spark, then it could be a timing issue. The timing chain/belt might have jumped a cog or broken. If the vehicle was running before and suddenly quit, this is a good possibility. A mechanic can check for computer codes with an OBD Tester.
While you're at it; super clean your battery cable terminals by removing them, clean the battery posts with a wire brush, or scrape them with a knife blade, but don't whittle away the posts. Likewise, super clean the cables terminals of all corrosion. If they are damaged or will not tighten properly, then replace them. If possible clean and re-tighten the OTHER end of the battery cables, as well. Loose connections can cause a myriad of problems.
Most shops do a poor job of this... do it yourself !
Hope this helps some.
Best of Luck.
