Rear AC / heating thumping sound

Yes the noise can be gear "jump" over, the teeth don't break since they are nylon in most cases. This is most often caused by a sticking/warped air temperature control blend door.

No heat in front New thermostat and flush still no heat

Sounds like the heater control valve/ blend door. The actuator may be stuck or broken. The actuator opens and closes to adjust for the heat setting in the car. You might be able to take a coathanger and manually open the door if you can get to the control arm. They are usually hard to get to and pretty expensive. It is located under the dash at the heater core box. Good luck.

I don't have no heat it just blows cold air. I changed the thermostat and still no heat.

Under the dash is a heater control door that is controlled by the heat door actuator. When you turn the knod, it activates the actuator and opens the door. I've seen several of these lately. Depending on where it is exactly, you might be able to reach the actuator arm that opens and closes the door with a coat hanger and pull it open manually. Normally if it doesn't work, the actuator itself is bad. They are expensive and usually very hard to get to. I helped change one that we had to completely pull the dash out of the car. Good luck.

No heat. Blower works fine. Noticed that the temperature control knob is not illuminated. All other knobs are illuminated. The outside/recirc air actuator is working properly.

If the blower is blowing air just fine, but you cannot control the temperature, you need to listen to air coming from the vents while turning the temperature from hot to cold. If you do n ot hear any change in airflow, then you may a temperature door in the dash broken. this is becoming a common problem on the Equinox
