Its sounding like a throttle pedal position sensor but i could be totally wrong here ,when the light comes on what is the code number its showing as this might give some sort of clue here ,Could quite possibly be a multitude of more than one fault as well ,best advice i can give here is to ask a local mechanic to have a look and see what they say as this sort of fault i have come across before on other models where the fault lay in the computer and loss of memory in the same caused by a battery going flat where the car wasnt used for a period of time but i dont think i can give a nice simple answer here sorry but if i had my head under the bonnet then perhaps i would have a better idea .
Go to www.hmaservice.com and register your vehicle by VIN #.. you'll then have access to wiring diagrams, shop & owner manuals, service bulletins, campaigns, illustrations and procedures, etc
could be afew things. vacuum leak, one dud HT lead, could be the water temperature sensor, O2 sensor, best to get it checked and get it read for fault codes
The timing belt is normally replaced at 100,000 km (approx. 60,000 mi), but must be checked for wear and tear starting 75,000 km(approx. 45,000 mi) along with a major tune-up.
The switch near the shifter is the ECT (transmission control) which selects NORMal driving mode, and PoWeR mode. It is the battle between economy (NORM) and driving performance (PWR). As tested, the PWR mode delays your A/T upshift to a higher RPM. This utilizes your engine's higher revs, but really cuts into fuel economy.
Sounds like the ISC (Idle Speed Control) which is adjustable. The secondary idle needs adjustment to prevent the car from wanting to stall at low speeds. Greg
if it is cold where you reside your car will run at a higher rpm then when in warm temperatures so that it can build up engine heat faster. if this is not the case you will have to take it in to the dealer ship to have it put on the computer
