Check connections at/or replace oil pressure switch. Your oil pressure switch is also a safety feature that shuts off power to fuel pump in case of accident or rollover.

Location of fuel pump assembly on 89 gmc suburban 1500

If its electric its in the fuel tank. Depending on where you live the sending unit may be in pretty rough shape. Also the older GM's are pretty well known for burning up the terminals in the connector on the inside of the sending unit. So even if you replaced the pump the sending unit could be bad and the pump could still not work.

Where is the fuel filter canister located on this 2006 GMC sierra 1500

The fuel filter on this vehicle is located inside the fuel tank and is a part of the fuel pump module. As such, it can only be serviced by replacing the pump module assembly. In theory, these are a lifetime filter and I've only seen a couple of them plug so far and those were due to dirty fuel that came out of a private service tank. The only real test to see if the filter is restricted is to have someone road test the vehicle with a fuel pressure test gauge hooked up to the fuel rail so the actual pressure can be observed while the vehicle is under load. Hope this helps out!

Gas gauge reads empty and low fuel with 10 to 20 gallons of fuel inside the fuel tank of my 2006 gmc 1500 pickup.

Other than replacing the sensor which is part of the fuel pump assembly inside the tank, you may have loose or corroded connections in the wiring just outside of the fuel pump/sensor position on the tank. These connections are exposed to water/salt conditions from road spray. May the force be with you!

Carberator problem - holly carb on chevy 350 motor

You are correct, there is a float inside a holley 4 barrel fuel bowl.
Is the electric fuel pump regulated? If the fuel pressure is above 8 lbs, you could run into this issue or the float / needle / seat could have a problem or miss adjusted.

By the way, a 2007 GMC is not carbureted so I assume this is not the vehicle or it has been modified.

Good luck.
