Coil, ignition module, or crank sensor. Check fuses first.

first thing i would do i would check fuel pressure if you have good fuel pressure then the next thing i would unbolt the exhaust from the exhaust manafold and then try to start engine if the engine starts up and runs fine then you have clogged up exhaust converters

You could have a loose belt, bad pulleys, or belt tensioners. Just pull on your belts first and see if they are loose!

My ford F-100 won't idle. It starts, but will die if I take my foot off the gas. Was running rough before, but did not have this problem.

Sounds like a vacuum leak. Take the air breather off. Cup your hand and slightly place it over the carberator. If the motor speeds up and smooths out , find the vacuum leak. Could be a hose, carb gasket, intake gasket . You cane spray starter fluid or WD40 around the intake or carb base gasket.

The problem could well be dirty injectors, try taking them out and leaving them in a container of gasoline for a couple of days then banging them out. Can it idle pretty much forever? Does it only die when applying throttle? It may be the fuel pump not delivering enough as well. Test those (the pump and injectors) and let us know how you get on.

1983 chevy c30 has fire, won't start

Not god to use starter fluid, gas in a bottle works. If it starts that way ,my guess would be the fuel pump.

/tom..only a half way back yard mec....i would spray some carb cleaner into the intake ..losen the hose going from air filter and spray directly into that...u have to gas it while spraying or it will die....then put a bottle of fuel injector into gas and fill up or as much as your wallett lets you and just MAYBE it will stop that up and down...fuel injectors may have clog...or...may be one of the 500 sensors that are on these hondas!

What year is your truck? if it has a "vortex" engine in it then I would suspect the fuel injection system. The Vortex uses a spider web design with a central block and distribution liners that clip into the head. the tips are known to clog in the bores. Take the whole spider web off and spray the tips real good with carb cleaner and then clean the bores before you put it back together.

My 2004 Cav, was revving up and down at an idle position in all gears

idle air control motor problem. First check for visible vacuum leaks a water gun sprayed in areas that would have vacuum on it would be good and safe to use while running of course. No.2 which is probably the problem. With the key off take breather off and spray throttle body cleaner directly into intake for a few seconds put breather back on but dont tighten all the way slide the straw piece in between breather and throttle and try find away to spray it in the throttle body while running vehicle may take 2 people one to start it and you to spray and hold throttle down some

1996 chevy s10 4.3 vortex lifters knocking at start up but goes away after 10 minutes idling. changed oil and filter oil pump reads 58-60psi at idle and seems to be working.

High milage? Try engine cleaner, run for couple hundred miles and then use an additive like Restore. If it's just dirt this may help. Make sure you are using the correct viscosity oil for winter temps. If it's from wear only parts replacement will fix it.

My 2004 chevy cavalier runs when I spray starting fluid into breather. Any suggestions on where to begin troubleshooting?

fuel pressure is your problem here. dirty or restricted fuel filter may be causing your problem or you may have a tired fuel pump. (if it stays running) if it dies you may have a bad pump. you can never go wrong with replacing the filter first. it is recomended maintenace.

Not a lot to go on here, but it sounds like the TPS needs to be replaced. [Throttle position sensor]
But even more likely a vaccume leak at the intake! Check this by having a helper get the engine running at a constant speed,[slower the better] then spray starting fluid under the breather and you will hear a change in the engine if there is a leak. Replace the gasket being careful to tighten the bolts equally. One thing left...........Wash an wax and enjoy! Frankster016
