Got a secerity light on dash comes on , and car does not start

if you have another key, try using that key. sometimes they will lose their memory

new drivers door
you drop battery neg lug first before work(per fsm warnings)
you made short circuit and borked the vtss or skim
so not the immoblizer lamp in dash glows, it dont lie.
as that cuts fuse after 3 second run time (by design!)
use a scan tool see what errors you have,

that be first.
check all fuses 1st first;.

this sounds like the security system is not disarming when unlocking vehicle , do you have a key fob or just a normal key ?

When you try and start the car, does your dash light up? Do you have an I-key? If your dash doesn't light up, you may need to have your steering lock replaced. If your dash lights do come on, have someone stand behind your car and see if your brake lights come on while you push on the brake pedal. If your brake lights do not come on, than you may have a problem with your stop lamp switch.

The security light is the reason that the starter is not turning over. The security light indicates a problem in the antitheft system. When this is triggered, the antitheft system turns the starter off to prevent the car from being stolen. The hard part is finding out which part is causing the antitheft to fail. Very good possibility here is the ignition lock cylinder( where the key goes into) has a wire going to it for the VATS (theft system) that frays/breaks and wont let the vehicle start. Common problem,Ignition lock cylinder needs to be replaced if thats the case. hope this helps,

Sounds like you dont have the bypass mod for your type of car. Do a search for GM bypass or passlock and locate the one for your car. They are plug and play and make the car fuction normal after the remote start is added.

Bad electrical ignition switch it sound like

Hi. I have a 99 Pontiac Grand Am. I've had that problem before. All I did was...whenever the security light would flash...and the car wouldn't start...I would take the key out...and just sit there and wait for about 10 to 15 minutes. Then the red light would stop flashing....and the car would start. That would happen about 2 times a year. Now I'm having trouble getting it to start. It's trying to...but won't turn over. My mechanic put a new computer....but now he doesn't know what is wrong. Please help. Thanks.

DRL (Daytime Running Lights) will come on any time you start your car.
The dash lights do not come on, unless your headlights turn on. Either by a daylight sensor or if you manually turn them on by the switch.
So even though your headlights are on with the DRL, if you notice the tail lights do not come on (just like the dash lights don't).

To test if your dash lights do work, turn your headlight switch on. You should the the tail lights and dash lights come on.
