My 92 Chevy with a 350 TBI.new plugs set .035 new cap new rotor. Starts up ok idealso good oil pressure is good water temp is good. Interstate holds 80 no problem. But at take off she bogs also low rate of speed runs a little ruff and going up hills. interstate uphill high rate of speed constantly kicking down on gears in order to compensate for loss of power. Just did a head gasket rebuild. So all of that is new. Was told could be fuel pressure. And then told if it was my pump it would just let go no inbetween. When I timed her out. I let her come to temp and timed her on zero. I did see that the motor time line on the main did not hit on T.D.C.zero every rotation. Was only off a small amount eather way with each rotation. Not understanding why or what is giving me low speed /under load problems.

Well if the timing mark is jumping around that's a good sign that the timing chain is streched and there is play in the chain that could cause the timing to be off does it ever stall out after it bogs and going up hill on the interstate that's your over drive kicking in and out trying to keep you at speed try timing it at the correct timing then take it on the road when you start going up a hill take it out of over drive see if that stops the shifting up an down good luck

This hole time it was my timing. And the fact that I did not do it 100% right. After some research I learned the proper way to do it reset it and now I have to relearn my accelerator pedal so I'll have back tires left on my trucK in the next month

SOURCE: 90 chevy k1500 350 tbi fuel problem starts but wont stay running

try bypassing the oil pressure switch on the back of the block behind the distributor, if there oil pressure switch goes bad it will do this. had one that drove me nuts trying to fix it then figured out I had to buy a book and low and behold thee it was 3 wire oil pressure switch you can't see between the engine and fire wall just behind the distributor and costs 8 bucks to buy new.

hhhmmm only warm huh...is the fuel pump making a whine noise...if so chang it...any pressure less than 58 psi wils cause numerous issues...you can also check pressue and spray pattern by putting a timing light on and pointing it at the tbi injectors and note the spray pattern..should be atamized to a V shape pattern...picture a V upside down...and also make shure egr and intake manifols clean passages and not leaking...good luck..

90 chevy 350 tbi crank no start, truck was started driven around the block parked it and let it idle a few minutes before shuting it off, the next day it would not start, it acts like timing is off and is...

You first need to check the fuel pressure, an easy way to access this is to buy a can of spray starting fluid, spray it into the TBI throttle valve and if the truck starts and dies you have no fuel pressure. Replace the fuel; pump, and make sure you get the right pump, it is a low pressure system.

90 chevy 350 with TBI starts but wont stay running changed fuel filter and fuel regulator dont know what next

I have a 90 chevy k1500 350 tbi with same problem! I have traced problem to... after turning on key fuel pump kicks on when u crank it over injectors shoot gas and truck starts! After few seconds injectors stop spraying and truck dies! This can happen many times over and over! Eventually sometimes truck stays running and all is great! I changed ignition module, oil pressure sending unit (which i was told controls gas after vehicle is running) fuel filter, computer, fuel pump relay, I am at a loss now! Hope this helps and hope someone can help me!

Turns over but dont start let off key and sputters 3or4 times 1998 Vortec 350 Chevy Z71 4x4

The freeze plug you replaced was due to rust or was it pushed out by freezing temperature? These plugs are not designed to protect the engine block from cracking during freezing temperatures, they are there to remove the sand from the block after casting it. I would drain your system completely and flush out the radiator thouroughly and fill with plain water, then run the engine and see if oil gets in the water, if it does and the plug was out due to freeze, then your block is probably cracked, although you could just have a head gasket leak. Oil pressure (40psi) is higher then water pressure (17psi), so getting oil in the water is always more prominent than the other way around. Flush out the system and let me know if oil returns to the water, hope this helps

HELP! I have a 95 gmc 4x4... sank it underwater. replaced fuel pump assembly, distributer cap, rotor, and spark module, ignition switch, computer, fuel pump relay, plugs, and wires. had only 80 psi...

the starter could be too close to the flywheel. try adding a couple of starter shims. it also could be drawing to many amps from internal corrosion from water intrusion.
