Truck won't start on 97 Dodge Dakota 4 by 4 for 5.9 liter throws a code 42 and code 1389 automatic shut off do you have any ideas if I apply gas to intake it will fire. Please help gonna lose my job.

the wiki tells you that
and the 42RE is there not mated to 3.9L V6 , + 4wd
the PCM will not allow other transmissions.

What you are actually looking for is the TCC Lock Up Solenoid, it is Inside the Transmission and you have to take the PAN off to gain access to it

Time to get it into the dealer, unless you have the proper equipment to diagnose the problem. I won't mess with anything electrical on any vehicle.

CHANGE THE TRANSMISSIN FLUID AND FILTER IF THAT DOSENT WORK SELL IT DODGE CANNOT BUILD A TRANSMISSION

there should be a small pin button you need to hold down to put the radio in set mode

what brand of fluid did you use?

try a crank shaft position sensor
it will not set a hard fault code

It doesn't have a serviceable fuel filter. The only fuel filter it has is in the gas tank at the base of the pump
