It is hard to get to - the sensor is at the back of the engine mounted through the transmission bell housing. The connector should be within 6 to 8 inches from the sensor. The sensor reads a sensor ring on the flywheel/flexplate.

Should be to the rear of right cylinder head. Three wire connector. If you have trouble seeing anything, sometimes you can use a hand mirror and flashlight. You shine the light in the mirror and position the mirror so you can see back there. Sometimes it helps?

I instALKLED A 94 318 V-8 INTO MY 97 RAM 1500 THAT HAD THE 360 IN IT. NOW THE ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT WONT START. NOT SURE WHY BUT DO i NEED TO CHANGE THE COMPUTERS AS WELL?

Yes you must install the whole wiring harness and engine sensors and the computer must be replaced, one system is OBD1 (94) the other is OBD2 (97), the two control systems are not compatible.

The crankshaft position sensor is located on the passenger side of the transmission bellhousing. Remove the two mounting bolts and unplug wires from connector. Install the reverse of removal. Hope this will help you.

Should be bolted right before the transmission (it has a wire connected to the harness) on the upper side of the engine (near the interior). See Chilton manual 20404.

Crank position sensor

Crank sensor on the durango is located on the passenger side of the vehicle just at the rear of the cylinder head, at the base of the block where the trans bell housing and engine block mate together you should see to bolt and a wiring harness with a two wire connector there.
