I have a 2000 toyota tundra that the keyless remote went kaput. I purchased a new one from the dealer and they told me they would have to drop the dash board to program my keyless remote FCC ID BAB
I haven't tried anything. I went to the dealer to get the remote programmed and that is when they told me that they would have to drop the dash board to program my key
The whole dash does not come out. The glove has to be removed to access the ECM. A jumper is installed to place the factory security system into the program mode. The whole dash does not come out. 2000 Avalon keyless remotes stopped working: solution Both keyless remotes for my 2000 Avalon stopped working. The batteries were good (I checked them with a volt-ohm meter). The Toyota dealer determined that the remote used most was defective and it tried to initialize the receiver in the car. This caused the second remote also not to work. The dealer reset the receiver (reinitialized it after first unplugging it), replaced the defective remote with a new one, and reprogrammed both remotes. Total cost: $225 labor, 164 for new remote. Later, another remote went bad. I just stopped using it.
The security system on Toyota products are added by the distributor in your region. Many of those security systems will not allow more than 4 key fobs to be programmed into them. Have you owned this vehicle since it was new? Have you tried to program more that 4 key fobs into it? Have you tried programming it more than 2 times? If you security system has had more than 4 key fobs programmed in then the only way to get it to reprogram is the replace the security unit with a new one. I found this out the hard way and had to replace mine in my 2000 tundra.
I am currently have the alarm going off on my 06 Tundra 7 and tried the recommendation above but didn't get rid of problem. I don't have keyless remote. There is a red light button on lower left of steering wheel & button underneath the dashboard under the steering column. Has anyone had a problem like mine that can give me specific instructions that will work for my. 2006 Tundra
