Bill has good points. But if it slipping, then replace the clutch package. I would replace the master and slave at the same time. Have the oil changed in the transmission and will be good to go for another 100,000+ miles.

Check /replace clutch cable or replace master cylinder. If the clutch has not been replaced it may need a clutch kit as the indications are that the pressure plate is weak ( worn clutch plate or from overheated clutch)

SOURCE: Hyundai tucson clutch

Thank you for the request. Since the car only has 24,000 miles on it, I would take it back to the dealer. It does sound like that your clutch needs an adjustment of some type. Since I do not own a Hyundai I have no idea what the actual problem might be. I just did some research and found out that the clutch in your car is hydrolic (meaning that it uses a master and slave cylinder with hydrolic fluid to push the clutch arm when you push the clutch pedal with your foot). Trying to work on this type of clutch system can sometimes be a very hard to do. With the small amount of miles your car has on it, I would get the dealer involved in solving this problem. It could be something as simple as bleeding air from the hydrolic system of the clutch or it might be replacement of either the master cylinder, the slave cylinder and/or the fluid line that goes in between those two cylinders.

Much good luck in fixing this problem.

SOURCE: Clutch Sometimes Slipping in 4th and 5th gears!

Hi Jackiaria

Unfortunately you have a hydraulic clutch, which is self adjusting on your car.

The problem you are experiencing is the excessive wear to your clutch, or oil contamination on the clutch plate.

Both these problems can only be fully diagnosed once the gearbox is removed and the clutch is inspected.
There is also a possibility of excessive wear, or scoring, on the flywheel surface, the longer you drive the vehicle with a slipping clutch, possibly requiring the flywheel to be skimmed.

Shop around for a best price, and a trustworthy garage !

Good Luck !

A FixYa rating would be Nice....Thanks.....John.

I have a 2010 Hyundai Sonata 6 speed manual trans. the clutch ie slipping can it be adjusted or does it need to be replaced?

. It's entirely possible that a component failed. For instance, if the clutch pressure plate failed, then the clutch pedal will feel very spongy and can cause the car to slip and be very difficult to shift. If it has a dampened flywheel, and that fails, then the car may lose the ability to go anywhere. It will go into gear fine, but will not move forward. If a clutch release lever failed, it may no longer release the clutch enough to allow gear changes, though slipping would be minimal. A failing hydraulic component could also cause the clutch to fail very quickly. Based on the symptoms, I think that the pressure plate has failed, but it's impossible to say for sure without seeing the car in person. You should have a qualified technician inspect your car

Mazda 2 has 105k miles. Why do I notice less acceleration and more RPM change?

If you accelerate especially when using high gears such as the 4th and 5th gear and the RPM is able to increase freely with the speed struggling to catch up with the RPM, it means your clutch is worn out and is slipping.

You need to get the clutch replaced in order for this issue to be rectified, especially if your clutch have not been changed before.

My hyundai tucson is making quite a loud rattling sound at low revs but disappears around 2500 revs. it's worse in high gears

It may be worth looking at the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt to see if it hasn't worked loose, the belt may be about 3/4" of slack, which could cause the belt to slap against the inside of the cover at low rpms. It can also slowly shave away the backing of the belt. There could be about half a cup of timing belt dust/shavings collected in the bottom of the lower timing belt cover.

Theres a problem changing gears, its a soft very low biting clutch peddle, unable to change down from high ratio gears to low ratio gears, having to knock into nuetral pump the clutch to select gears...

This sounds like you may have a leak in the hydrulics of the clutch, the clutch slave is not disengaging the clutch all the way, this is the reason for the low bite pedal and hard to get gears, the most common problem is the fluid is low due to a leaking slave cylinder, i would look around the clutch components for a leak, hope this helps.

Hard to get my tucson in gear

Check you have no air in the clutch fluid.Bleed the system. If that does not cure the problem then if you have good pressure at the pedal you pressure plate is faulty. Then the only solution is to replace the clutch.

Hyundai tucson 2 liter crdi gear box sound its a manual transmission

Hi there, the Common Rail Diesel Inyection (CRDI) 2000 cc 112 Hp M/T have a big trouble on cluth plate, and sounds very loud between 1500 and 2000 rpm on 2,3,4 shift. That motor has too much torque and cause excesive wear in the cluth roll and plate so starts roominess in the cluth system. You could change those parts but quickly the sounds come again. Hyundai is the resposable of that damage. I hope in the near future recall the CRDI model 112 Hp and replace the cluth.
