Try disconnecting either the hvac control head for a few seconds or even the battery for 1-2 min.. If no change you probably have a faulty passenger side temp actuator.. Sounds like you have a dual zone setup, as in the driver and passenger can have there own temp settings.. There is a actuator for each side..
Each window has its own little servo motor and the drivers side is usually the one that wears out first. Considering it has done the most work in the past 17 years, it has probably died and gone to heaven. Should be under a hundred dollars to have a new one put in.
I would talk to a dealer or two. You could have a damaged heater box or blend door. The blend doors direct air thru the heater core and the vents. There was a recall for some blend doors on some Jeep models. You may have to contact factory customer service to get it fixed.
These can be a real bear, often requiring removal of the dash board. Unless you have experience with this I suggest you call around to some private, not chain, repair shops which do heating and air conditioning work on cars and get a price from them. You may save a few bucks obtaining your own new heater core from ebay, but be prepared to hear that they will not warrant the core itself.
Are you talking about a V8? Bank one is left side (drivers side) #1 piston is front of engine. My experience with O2 and Cats is go to a muffler shop off beaten path. Don't go to a big chain outfit. Ask a mechanic where he would take his car. They will be honest and check your cat for free. Cats wear out, O2 sensor should last around 60,000 mi. unless your fuel control system is bad and sends too much fuel contaminating cats and O2 sensors. But a 2006 should not need either of these things. I believe by Federal law cats are warranted for 7-10 years? Ask around. I bought my own OBDII scanner. You can read your own "check engine" light. You'll know if you're being led astray!
The body control module in this vehicle sees a short in the seat heater system. These vehiucles are typical of the heater wiring shorting out. When you try to use the bad heater the computer shuts off all the heaters.
You probably need to replace your dual climate control valve (aka Heater valve) This regulates how much hot coolant each heater core gets. When it malfunctions it either doesn't turn on or doesn't turn off. So either you get limited or no heat on one side (or both sides) or you get warm air when your ac is on, usually out of one side and not the other. Mine went out at 50-60K and I had hot air blowing on my feet in 90deg weather. If you are not under warrant I would recommend purchasing one yourself and taking to a trustworty mechanic. It only takes about 45 min to replace but the dealer will charge you several hundered for the unit plus several hours of labor. Rockauto sells them for about 170, I managed to find mine online a couple years ago for 115.
Good luck
Its likely to be the heater contol distributor located in the front of the engine compartment under the right hand (when sitting in the drivers seat) headlights. Its very difficult to get to, it took me around 2 hours to change. Its ideally done on a ramp & cost around £150 (ukp) for the distributor valve block + £30 for proper antifreeze aprox 2 years ago.
