The engine and the Trans are in timing with each other from the factory...If the RPMs are revving up but the TRANS isn't keeping up with the Engine The problem sounds to be in the trans...Unless your calipers are sticking and holding you back....!?...A Throttle position Sensor can give you problems because It controls the throttle but normally if it is faulty it should run rough at any level....Same goes for the Idle Air Control valve....A fault in either of these components will produce abnormal RPMs and a rough running engine....Early signs of a clogged fuel filter will stall you while going up a hill also.....Of course the engine will get a temperature increase because it is being overworked....It may not be as hot as you think considering the gauge reading you described...You would have to use a handheld thermometer for a positive engine degree reading....However if it is evidently boiling hot and gauge reads normal it sounds like a faulty sensor in which case is a different problem....Make sure coolant is full to be safe......m..

SOURCE: 2003 nissan sentra gxe no power after 40mph and rpms go high

if this car has an automatic transmission, i would verify the fluid is full and clean. if manual trans, clutch? the fuel filter in this car may be in the fuel tank and is not serviceable. otherwise could be located near air filter housing or firewall. is the service engine lite on?? if so, that should indicate a direction to go.

most likely it is the transfer case leaking. known problem on the AWD models. they leak right down on the exhaust and causes the burning smell. have it checked out again.

SOURCE: CVT jerking in 2012 Nissan Murano SL

nissan cvt's are well known for stepper motor failure.Plug the ECU onto a diagnosis machine to be sure but if the jerking is accompanied by failure to smoothly change up and down gears it is the stepper motor. If everythng else is ok check fuel pump

Concerned, I have a 09 Nissan Murano and when Im driving the truck sounds like Im just in park and pressing on the gas. It wont go pass 2 rpms and it is slugglish and wont accelerate right away. I tok

Check the transmission fluid... It sounds like your transmission is slipping.... Ie step on the gas with the vehicle in gear and the car doesn't move as fast as the engine sounds like it should be.... Hopefully you caught it early and just low on fluid. However. If the fluid level is at the proper height on the dipstick and smells like horribly burnt toast (not just a chemical smell) but really pronounced you may have serious transmission issues and need a pro, best of luck...

Automatic trans is dead

how many miles on it? nissan has extended their warrantee on CVT transmissions. if you have less than 120000k on it, it still may be under factiry /nissan warantee. sound to me like you need a new trans.

My transmission has gone out. I plan to fix and trade in my car. What type of options are available for 2005 Nissan Murano AWD SE? Can I get a rebuilt, after market or is my only option a new transmission?

depending on your mileage nissan recently extended the warranty on all cvt transmisions to ten years 120,000 miles .contact your local nissan dealer or call 1800nissan1.

What is a driveline services for a 2004 Nissan Murano

the CVT transmission should not need service until 100k miles.

Additionally Nissan extended the service of all Muranos with CVT transmissiont to 120k miles.

you can check the forum nissanmurano.org for any Murano issues. I am not affiliated with that site but a regular user

Nissan cvt stock in low gear and wont change

ouch. since it's a Prairie and not a Murano i'm not sure but the Murano in US has a warranty to 120k miles on the CVT. Check your dealer if they offer that where you are

2001 nissan serena 4wd the cvt transimission acts up especially when going u a grade it changes into low grade and stays i have to turn off car and wait a bit and sometimes when moving off the transmission...

it sounds like it is overheating have you changed the fluid recently? does it have a transmission cooler?
These CVT transmissions were never built to be capable of extended offroad driving unless you have the necessary coolers etc

At higher speed the car refuses to shift to the next gear. Cannot move faster. DTC code indicates "Transmission Ration Control Motor" What do I do?

Murano doesn't shift. It has a CVT trans. (continuesly variable transmission). no shifting involved. I think that you have an internal failure, which would mean replacement of the unit. No rebuild parts available from Nissan. Whole unit only.
