I have a 97 chevy z71,recently had the brake booster pump replaced,it had been shifting out of park just fine prior to haveing the pump replaced,now it has a hard time shifting out of park, is this related?

you will need to replace the water pump itself and its pretty easy to do. take of the top half of the fan shroud, pop off the hoses to the water pump and the take out the bolts to the water pump

The parking brake cables may be stretched and in need of adjustment. Follow the cables along to a nut. Then you can tighten the adjusters up on both sides until you have the proper tension. Also make certain none of the brackets are bent or broken that the cables ride through.

Most likely. Usually what happens to mine, is the wires to the sensors get broken from stones hitting them. i splice them back together and they are good for a while. Or the sensors get dirty.

You can remove the interlock off the gear shift or maybe spray some crc on it otherwise probably a loose wire or switch
