Question about Ford Cars & Trucks

I have a 2001 ford f150 that idles up and down.....going down the rd it runs fine but if you come to a stop, it sometimez will idle up high enough to jump the truck forward or it will idle really low and cut off.....does the same in neutral....just replacedthe throttle control valve and still didn't fix the problem? Any ideas?

I'd bet its a vacuum leak. If you lightly spray carb clean on the hoses and gasket areas around your intake manifold, you'll be able to find the leak because the engine will idle way up consistently when it sucks the carb clean in from the leak.

I have 1990 ford f150 5.8 liter it idles high when in park and idles about 1200 rpm when in gear and sometimes surges up and down. i have clean the idle control and check showing 12.5 ohms still won&#
One common problem is a vac leak or a sticking throttle plate.
The computer controls idle speed by how much air is allowed into the intake. The idle control valve could be sticking even tho you have cleaned it, or have a faulty motor.

My 1997 ford f150 starts fine, but has a high idle while stopped usually about 1200. Sometimes the idle will drop to about 400 and the truck almost stalls. Help?
To be honest no idea with my head under the bonnet and having a play to see whats wrong ,could be anything from a vacumn pipe to faulty sensor .

My 1985 ford f150 has been sitting for about two years. It starts and runs but the carburator acts like its stuck wide open. It runs great on high rpms but slowing down to a stop sign or going around...
Probably need to rebuild the carb.

5.4l ford engine surges when idling
You may have a sludged up throttle valve and air bypass idle speed control valve, do the following to correct that.

I want you to get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

ENGINE SURGES AT IDLE
with the engine running lift hood and lisen for a vacum leak and check all your vacum lines. if no vacum leak can be found then replace the idle air control valve.

Check all of your vacume lines. If it isn't a vacume line it is most likely the O2 sensor.

With clutch pushed-in, RPMs start to go up to around 2000-2500
if it isnt the iac probably the pcv valve positive crankcase vent. it is on a vacuum line somewere under hood. or check the air cleaner, the hose with the small filter underneath the air filter. i take its fuel injected?

1976 Ford F150 Bogs down when accelerater is pressed.
if it has a converter on it.....it may be stopped up, but before you replace it have the fuel pump checked, as it may not be getting enough gas at higher rpms. It will start and idle fine, but starve out when you press the pedal. Have you changed the fuel filter?That will cause the same problem.....
