The rear gate is the rear door at the back of the vehicle..Open and shut it to make sure it is latched...Then wear safety glasses disconnect negative battery cable to clear codes ..reconnect then try to start it..You shouldn't have the code once gate is shut however disconnecting the battery will erase all codes...Also make sure both battery cables are tight....

scan it.
the CEL lamp on running means. "SCAN ME.," now.

the gate warning means just that, gate in ALarm.

2008 jeep liberty hard starting

Try a battery with more cranking amps cannot hurt. If it is a diesel have an engine heater put on, there are also glow plugs which preheat the combustion chamber on a diesel try to cycle the glow plugs twice before cranking. a battery warmer is also a good idea and thinner oil for the cold season.

2008 Jeep Liberty error code gate on dash and interior light will not turn off got new battery and still doing it

can i buy a comma? says vanna white?? LOL !
ok, the battery drains, so you got a DRAIN, called phantom drain.
or dark current.!!
we use a thing called an AMMETER (DMM) to find all drains, easy

do you have one, want to learn or just wanting wild guessing.

on any 08 liberty, we check the scan tool data.
oops it shows battery low, wow even the PCM sees that.

new batteries do not fix drain.
nor dead alternators.

get it serviced, by a pro. ?

1: charge battery (rested its 12.6vdc )
2: start engine, scan tool shows, what DTC errors (post em')
3: battery voltage is , 13.3, to 15vdc running, if not charge system is faulting.
4: ok all that is ok, i then key off and measure bettery cable neg lug drain current, if 0.010a to 0.040a its ok, if over 0.1 amps its a drain.
we then find the drain cause, ASK? its not hard with a meter.
but i bet all you wanted is a wild guess.

2005 Jeep Liberty, does not re- start, does not crank, no solenoid click.

From your description it seems as if the relay is bad or else the battery is shorting out inside and needs to be replaced. I would change the relay to start.

The battery is fully charged, but when I try to start the jeep, the engine wont start. The battery is fully charged. I checked all the wires to assure that I had no lose wires. Could this indicate a bad...

Hello, There is something you can try, but we need more info about any sounds the engine makes and if the engine is cranking or completely dead when you turn the Key to Start.

If the engine does not crank, there are switches under the floor pedals for the Brake and clutch(if a stick shift). These often get hit by a wayward shoe and the switch is knocked out of position or broken. Check there and see if that's the problem. Another switch is part of a Safety device that requires your Auto Transmission to be in Park or Neutral. It should be under the dash and possibly at the bottom of your steering column.

If there is a click or stream of clicks, rattles, and so on when the Key is in Start; you need to recontact us.

Now when you say "won"t start" if the engine cranks and does not run, this would be a different problem than one caused by a Starter. You would either have no fuel activity or no spark. We would need to know from you what the engine is doing.
