The
Crank Sensor is on the block, below the Exhaust manifold. You will
need a T-20 Torx bit to take loose the bolt that holds it in. The
wiring for it goes down the block on the front side and is off the same
harness that the coolant sensors are on.
I am about to have the same problem with my 2002 ZX2. My shop called the Ford dealer and they can replace it for $450.00...
seems like an awful lot for a battery cable.

Yes, All the years of the ZX2 utilize the same engine. 1998-2003 are all the same except for ECU programing and the MAF wiring. You should not have a problem.
