I have 97 jeep GC laredo, my problem is when ever i use the heater during the winter time, seems like the coolant mixes with my oil because it gets milky like. However, it does not smoke or anything also. Plus, when its not cold and the heater is not use the oil is fine like usual. I was wondering if anyone had that problem and what is the solution for that problem or if its a blown gasket. i would appreciate it if someone can give me some advice or info..

A very serious problem and will get far worse
get car fixed.
do you want gue$$ing or do you what DIY testing,
ill not guess. but it is serious.
here:

  1. get a rad leak down test done.
  2. get the rad neck green/blue dye tester test done,
  3. get a compression test, WOT, wide open throttle.

i car running 50% antifreeze at all times? Yes/no?
if not and it freezes there, oops,, you killed it.

SOURCE: OIl leak in 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo

valve cover gasket is like $20 and a do it yourself job, just buy a manual like a chiltons from an auto parts store. if it was valve cover, the smoke would be coming from engine, not tailpipe.

rear seal is in between engine and tranny, this would cause oil to leak on ground, but not to burn

if smoke is coming from tailpipe, your piston rings might be going bad. that is an expensive repair, but switching to synthetic oil may give you several more years of life out of the piston rings, synthetic oil has a way of soaking into bad piston rings and temporarily making them like new again, unless they are already too far gone.

SOURCE: Oil light comes on intermittently

Replace oil sending unit (usually somewhere near oil filter) Add a pint of marvel oil to help clean passageways. Make sure wire on sender is not grounding anywhere.

SOURCE: Oil pan removal on a 97 jeep wrangler

Instructions can be found in any basic manual but the simple version is to remove anything obvious that will be in your way (starter, trans lines etc). Disconnect both engine mounts and raise engine to get better clearance (watch stuff on top so you don't break anything) I usually stuff a couple of 2x4 wood blocks between engine & mounts to support it. Remove all pan bolts and take it down (remember pump pickup will interfere) Do what you need to do, then reverse process.

My 96 jeep grand cherokee laredo over flow tank won't hold any water. The radiator was staying pretty full until now. It's leaking water can't find where it be?

Pull the dip stick for the oil , its probably over full ! The reason is that you have a bad head gasket ! So water / coolant are mixed with the oil !

Foamy transmission fluid on a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. What is the cause? I have checked both the radiator and the transmission fluid for signs of coolant and fluid mixing. I found no signs.

foaming transmission oil is normally from incorrect oil level in transmission
check the level -hot, running and in drive
ensure somebody has their foot on the brake while carrying out the check

Gmail.comi have a 97 jeep grand cherokee 5.2 and it overheat when i turn on the air . can the wrone fanbelt make a drifence

Generally no, the fan belt will not make a difference IF it is tight and turns the fan and water pump. A lot of things can affect the temperature of the coolant including the condition of the coolant. I have to switch my 1995 Jeep GC thermostat from a higher degree for the winter to a lower degree thermostat for the summer. I also found that using a syntinic (sp) oil helps during the summer.

I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The liftgate has always had issues. Used to open only when it felt like it. Now doesn't open at all. They handle doesnt seem to be connected or is broken? Any help?...

Try pressing and holding in the plastic trim piece at the bottom, right below the liftgate handle, while at the same time pulling on the handle. It should open. I had a GC that gave me the same problem opening.

So, my 2001 V8 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is very slowly leaking coolant. I replaced the heater core in 2009 and the symptoms that the Jeep expressed then are not happening now. However, the low coolant...

are you mixing the coolant with water if yes,you need to just put straight up anti freeze ,because water evaporates at high temperatures .. also keep resorvoir full at all times there is a sensor in the tank that when is low it makes the check coolant light come on ,,....good luck
