SOURCE: An emission control sys. indicator has arised (Grand vitara 2005)

To know what it exactly is, you need a code scanner hooked to it.
If there is an autozone near you, go there, tell them the engine light is on and you need the code, takes about 30 seconds. They don't charge, where other places do. Without that code you'll be replacing things you don't need to. There is other sensors in the emission system other than the 02 sensors.

Here is a site that should help. If I could hook my scanner up I could tell you in minutes if the O2 sensor was working by watching the data stream. the code means you are running lean on the #2 side. This can be caused by a vacuum leak or even a bad sensor. It has to be diagnosed. Read more in this site:

SOURCE: 2007 suzuki sx4 emission control light on. 17000 miles

My light in my 2007 SX4 just came on. Apparently my oxygen sensor is wrecked... allegedly from oil dropping on it during oil changes. Did the light come on after the most recent oil change?

The cluster panel what side is the check engine light on 2001 Nissan frontier Exie

when you turn on your ignition to the point before engaging the starter all your warning lights should light up. The Engine Check Light is very obvious, except they throw convention to the wind and show it as 'Service Engine Soon' lamp 'Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)'.
Page 63 - Section 2-7 Instruments and controls

Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) If this indicator lamp comes on steady or blinks while the engine is running, it may indicate a potential emission control malfunction. The malfunction indicator lamp may also come on steady if the fuel filler cap is loose or missing, or if the vehicle runs out of fuel. Check to make sure the fuel filler cap is installed and closed tightly, and that the vehicle has at least three gallons of fuel in the fuel tank. After a few driving trips, the lamp should turn off if no other potential emission control system malfunction exists.

Why did I fail emission test on 2009 Suzuki Sport SX4 because of Oxygen sensor?

O2 sensor allows ECM to fine tune fuel/air mixture going into the engine.
No O2 sensor will put ECM into "closed loop" mode and use a lot more fuel.

Service vehicle message appears periodically on my Pontiac grand prix

Service Vehicle Soon
The driver information center (DIC) illuminates the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator when the powertrain control module (PCM) or the engine control module (ECM) detects certain malfunctions that are not related to the emissions system. You should have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes ! Unless related to a emission problem the check engine light won't come on . But can still set a code in the PCM

Emission control system Light has come on - it this a serious problem? Car going in for full service and MOT 21/2, will this be covered SUZUKI ALTO

Its likely to be your EGR (exhaust gases recirculation) system blocked or just a valve malfunction.
Since you are going for a full service ,they should sort it out by either cleaning the egr valve or replacing it.
Your car will not pass the MOT with that light on.
I dont know what engine you have in the Alto,so make any further comments.
