My heat on blows from the defrost how do i fix?

Why not scan and look for HVAC errors.
first. and for free too. any tool can scan this.

LOST COMMUNICATION WITH HVAC CONTROL MODULE
sure the dealer tool can send command and see actions.
sure but $120hr that is expensive. just for a damper stuck

Visually verify the mode door cam moves from the full defrost position to the full panel position and then
back to the full defrost position using the mode control knob on the A/C-heater control. If OK, go to step
10. If not OK, proceed to step 6.
6. Disengage the mode control cable from the metal retaining clip located on the right side of the HVAC
housing.
7. Turn the mode control knob on the A/C-heater control to the full defrost position.
8. Reach behind the instrument panel and turn the mode door cam clockwise until it stops in the full defrost
position and engage the mode control cable to the metal retaining clip. Make sure the cam is in the full
defrost position and that the cable is fully engaged to the retaining clip.
9. Verify the mode door cam moves from the full defrost position to the full panel position and then back to
the full defrost position as selected with the mode control knob on the A/C-heater control. If not, repeat
steps 6 thru 9.

The heat/vent blend door that is located inside of the HVAC system behind dash..Rarely it is the control however it could be....Some of the vent door issues are recalls on certain vehicles."Also Blend vent door actuators that operate the doors can become inoperable...If it is the door inside the HVAC it will probably take about 8 hours to repair...Most vent doors either stick shut and or break..as well as actuators....Only a Dealer Scanner can tell exactly where the problem is.....

My ac/heat only blows through defrosters and not dashboard vents. Could it be the air actuator door?
If you have actuators , yes they can be bad. If you have vacuum pods, they could be lacking vacuum from the engine ports. Check vacuum lines and system. Also the control valve in the dash could be bad.

Defroster not blowing
your blend door motor IS your defroster problem , as it is needed to direct heat mixed with the ac to properly defrost the windshield . if when you change your blend door motor and the problem still exsist , then youy have a defective blend door package , meaning one of the doors are faulty , which could get very expensive to repair , good luck !!!

Ac and heat blowing out of defrost vents
had this problem on a ford crown vic ... tried the switches that control the vents not it ... turned out that one of the vent doors inside of heating and ac/ ducts was broke .... had to take the whole dash apart to fix ... u need to have it checked by a respectible mechanic ... depends on ur yr and make of car on how to diagnose problem ...

Sounds like you have a supply vacuum problem. When you lose supply vacuum to the control head it defaults to defrost.

common problem, check under dash by the gas pedal if control arms are muving went selecting from ac to heat cuz this it is the control for the vents to go from ac to heat and to defrost.
