code p 0447 ( if I read it right) refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) system--vent control---open circuit ===causes --wiring open circuit --EVAP canister purge valve ---ECM
if you post again text in the code number as I have extreme difficulty reading it on the snap shot
It would have been so easy to write-- what does code p**** mean on my 2008 Hyundai sonata --rather that going to all of the trouble to attach the photo
All this means is that your car will not pass an OBD 2 emissions test. P-powertrain 1-MFG: manufacturer specific 5- vehicle speed control and idle control system 07- Hyundai 07 fault code.
P0453 means EVAP emission pressure sensor high input. Possible causes: - Faulty Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure sensor - Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure sensor harness is open or shorted - Evaporative Emission System (EVAP) Pressure sensor circuit poor electrical connection. Code p0701 means Transmission control system range/performance. Possible causes: - Open or short transmission control system circuit - Poor transmission control system electrical connection - Check powers and grounds to Transmission Control Module (TCM)
first is up you octane with an adative or tank of has. the next would be to inspect your rotor cap for crac ks/ scale build up. if showing a lot of build up on the contacts replace cap and rotor button. Those ate the easiest and cheapest improvements. the octane boost reduces the misfire due to detonation
I researched your problem and couldn't find any Service Bulletins or Recalls or Campaigns related to it. It seems, you'll have to take it into a Hyundai Service Center and pay the diagnostic fee to find out what's wrong. They'll give you an estimate of repairs (parts, labor, tax, time-frame, etc.) You can decide what you want to do then.
By the way, the symptom you describe could be fuel, electrical or both.
Under the hood, there is a fuse block. I believe it is on the driver's side of your vehicle. Open that box, and pull the "ECU" fuse. Leave the fuse out for at least 5 minutes. Put the fuse back in, start the car, and let it idle for at least another 5 minutes. Do not drive the car, touch the gas, or even look at the gas pedal for these 5 minutes, as the ECU is remapping itself. This will properly reset the ecu and clear the codes. After this you may drive the car.
If you have an EVAP leak, you will get the following codes:
1. P0442 evap emission control system leak (small). 2. P0455 evap emission control system leak (large).
If these codes come up, you need to trace the leak. The most common place for the systems to leak besides the gas cap is at the service port under the hood, the hoses at the purge solenoid, and the hoses around the fuel tank. Check all your EVAP hoses from under the hood , all the way back to the gas tank. You can repair a split hose easily. Buy some 14.5mm EVAP hose at the auto parts store. Just cut the split or cracked section out and attach the new hose. I can only say that u must fix the code issue and light to pass state emission test, if u reset the light they will know, the system will tell the tester that the system is not ready, this will cause a fail.
