I would imagine you can probably find a new switch or something to swap it out with. You could probably find a place that sells replacement truck parts. I'm no expert though, so it might be a good idea to ask the people at the store for their opinions too. http://www.dsuban.com/I would imagine you can probably find a new switch or something to swap it out with. Faulty switch, or you have a Body control Module communication issue. You need an auto-electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to check live data and communication between all the systems.
More likely the shift cable is binding. Also make sure you fully apply the emergency brake when you park before shifting into Park. This will prevent loading the linkage by the parking pawl making it difficult to move the lever. Especially when parking on a hill.
Also make sure you are pressing the brake pedal when shifting our of Park. Sometimes the brake light switch can be intermittent and either the switch is bad or the switch is out of alignment with the brake pedal lever. This not the most common cause.
Could be the headlight switch. The switch has two sets of contacts for the parking lights, the park position and headlight position. You may need to check the circuit at the switch to see if you are loosing power when the switch is moved from park to head.
As for the brake lights i would think that the brake light switch is faulty. As for the parking lights i think that the parking light relay is sticking.Switch the relay with another one in the fuse panel with the same part number to see if thats the problem or not.
Park brake lights normally operate by a small plunger type switch the turns off when the level or pedal is placed in the off position. Over time the spring in the lever weakens and placing the lever in the off position no longer depresses the switch. The switch can sometimes be adjusted to make better contact, or the switch bracket can be bent so the lever and switch make proper contact.
if your not experience with brakes i won,t attempt replacing the cable. if you always have a freezing problem use a wheel chuck.
it,s a wedge u put against the tire so a car won,t roll
