My 2013 Elantra Coupe Passenger seat won't lock in place, it slides back & forth. How do I fix it

Hi,

Please compare the seat to the other front seat and determine the part that needs to be replaced, visit advanced autoparts to collect the part and then (if skill enough) you can replaced it. Otherwise, you can use a mobile mechanic to help with the replacement.

Thank you.

Front drivers seat will not slide back and forth.

No, check for a blockage in the seat track. You have one power source for all seat functions. If it works one way but not the others it is either a bad switch, or bad motor, or a blockage.

On my extended cab, the front passenger seat will not slide all the way back to the lock position

There's probably something in the way. Get under and behind the seat with a flashlight and check the back end of the rails to see if something is there.

Passenger seat won't lock in place

The adjusting lever for seat position is not locking into place. On the bottom of seat are runners on each side with holes in them that the adjusting lever tabs will lock in and hold seat in place. The seat slides on the runners if those tabs are raised. There is also a connecting wire or rod from the lever to the other side of seat so when lever is pulled up, tabs on both runners are raised for seat to slide. Something is keeping the tabs from locking into the holes on the runners in your car. Maybe the adjusting lever is broken somewhere, or the wire/rod came loose, or the lever is just dry and sticky and needs a shot of WD40 to loosen it up. If you can't see it and fix it with seat in place, then pull the seat back off for the repair. Good luck. Post back if my explanatiopn is not clear or you still need help.

1996 Plymouth Voyagers Seat is locked but the front part is not in place and the damn thing is locked and cant get unlocked to fix seat

if i understand u correctly? what u need to do is get where u can see the bottom of the seat ,view where the handle would go and how it would move when activated find a way to depress the lever i.e. screwdriver.this should allow the seat to slide back and forth if the problem isnt cured use some type of lubricant. the only other suggestion would be to replace the seat through your local salvage yard

My drivers side power seat moves slides back and

No the adjusters for power seat are made from some steel and a lot of aluminum parts. Replacing the seat tracks are your only option to be safe for they are riveted together

Have a 1999 Chevy 1500 extended cab. Driver seat is not powered. Won't lock into place, keeps sliding back and forth. Was told I have to replace the whole seat and sliding track by Chevy Dealership. Anyone...

Remove the seat assembly turn it upside down cables come off the handle you pull on to slide seat, Follow these cables to 2 pawls that pivot on tracks and see if they are broken, bent,or just stuck and need cleaned and lubed. If you need new track slider assembly I use to be able to get them all the time from GM parts department and just replace tracks themselves.

I have a 2007 ford fusion and i was driving one day and placed the seat belt behinf the headrest and now it is locked and there is not enough slack to move it. how do i get it unlocked ?

Try this:
1. On the door post, the belt holder can slide up and down. Slide it to loosen the belt tension, being careful to not let the belt tighten.
2. If no belt slack, try adjusting the seat back either lean forward or back, if possible.
3. You may have to move seat back / forth and adjust seat back a certain way.

My passenger seat won't lock into position. It slides back and forth as I drive and the bar that you pull on to move it back and forth is stuck in the up position.

There is a spring that pull's the handle back to lock position that might be broke or the locking mechanism might be gummed up.the spring can't be bought seperatly so check a hardware store or replace the seat track assembly.
