SOURCE: ford transmission 86 4wd will not shift to high gear

It is hard to say from your description what the problem is ... could be linkage issue ... could be trans is going as is with the other poster ...
Losing overdrive. Clutches (bands/clutches) have had it. Be careful driving without that top gear ... doing too high a speed without the appropriate gear causes extra stress on your engine that could accelerate further problems. Try to do only driving at a low enough speed that the top gear is not missed ... will help the vehical last as long as possible.

SOURCE: 1995 grand cherokee trans not shifting in to second gear

Check transmission fluid levels,,replace lost fluid as needed,,,if this does not work,,take the car to a mechanic,,,sorry to say,,this kind of problem almost alway's requires a transmission mechanic to repair.

Either try changing your timming chain or it could be crank censor.

SOURCE: 2005 Mazda6 tranny ****

1. some mazdas had a PCM/TCM update to resolve 1st to 2nd shift shock. the only one who can update the is the dealer. maybe covered under 5 year 100,000kms powertrain warranty.

2, have you ever had the transmission fluid replaced? it could be dirty, burnt, etc.
if it was replaced, maybe it was replace with fluid other than M5 fluid. different fluids have different properties (thickness etc) which could cause serious problems if left.

I would recommend taking it to the dealer for the update and a transmission flush (not a drain and fill) using a flush machine.

My pickup runs at an extremely high rpms. it is a 93 F250 powerstroke turbo diesel any thought on what i should try?

check the timing of the pump as pump timing if incorrect will cause engine failure . High rpms may be from the accelerator control not being assembled properly on installation or if ECM controlled the connection to the pump is not correct. Looking at ford diesel rpm specs , some fords run to 6500 rpms while others are at 4500 . As you have not stipulated the engine size or capacity ,it is hard to advise other than to go on line to googlr - type in ford max rpms for your engine and see what it is suppose to be

Runs great until shifting from 1rst to 2nd gear (auto-trans)suddenly bogs down like it went into neutral, what could this be

run the fault codes and check for TCM problem. If it shifts into neutral like you describe then the engine would increase in rpms as the load came off. More than likely shifting into a too high gear which indicates a selector program problem.

I have a 1992 f250 diesel the over drive indicator light is flashing it shifts in to gear a little hard what is the fix

That is telling you that the TCM has codes stored that need to be accessed. This requires a professional level scan tool to access the transmission module. A generic code reader will not do the trick.

91 f250 diesel hesitates in drive

check fluid levels and color.. if brown and dirty, change fluid and filter in the trans pan refill to full and it should shift better..sounds like the filter is clogged up..also check vacuum lines from the pump to the transmission..fix any leaks

1992 Ford F250 Diesel does not engage in any gear including reverse. Any suggestions?

there is a part of the linkage in the steering column, that wears and or breaks,a steering colmn specialist can check this for you and replace it if that is the problem
if that is not the problem, it sounds like you need to take to a transmission mechanic.QUESTION: is the overdrive light on gear shift flashing/ if it is flashing, the problem is definetly in the transmission, not the linkage

High rpms, high shifting

Most likely needs trans overhaul

On a 1985 Ford F250 diesel, with the 4 speed

I would replace fluid and filter. At least the fluid. Old fluid has bad temperature range protection and the inter cooler doesn't help cool the lines much.

My 1994 f250 transmission errors after going uphill!!

You are setting a trouble code on engine problems, have truck scanned to find error. Trans. will go into safe mode in this instance and this is why shifts hard.
