It means you have a Anti-lock brake problem an DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are set in the EBCM - electronic brake control module or could be a Transmission problem or the electronic throttle control problem . Having these code's checked would be a good first step . The dealer or someother qualified repair shop .
i would get the OBD codes read as could be anything from a loose connection to a fluid leak (or worse ) do the brakes operate ok as you don't want to risk a braking failure ,so i'd get the OBD done as soon as possible
ABS is a braking system that pulses your brakes on and off for you automatically. Traction control is controlled by your engine's computer. When your drive wheel begins to spin due to loss of traction, the "traction control", if turned on, prevents your drive wheel from spinning too fast, which could cause you to lose control. Anyway, to answer your question, to my knowledge there is no easy way to add this accessory to your car.
easy you have either a faulty sensor on a wheel or the painted magnetic strip in the back of the bearing has been damaged or the cover the paint sits on has corroded away ,disconnect each sensor in turn and check for continuety first and if all ok then disconnect each one in turn with vehicle jacked up and spin wheel and using meter on lowest miliamp setting to see if you read a slight voltage on a fast spin of the wheel .
2008 Escape has a terrible reputation for ABS light and traction control light being. All due to broken ABS tone ring cracked and out of position flopping on frt bearing. Go to local AutoZone store and they
will scan this to find which wheel has the broken tone ring. The replacement ring is cheap in the $7 range. It is labor that will sicken you as this ring must be pressed on after the front half shaft is removed. Not a driveway job if you are considering DYI.
It may have pushed one of you sensor back away from your tone wheel its a common problem, all you have to do is push the sensor back againts your wheel and it will set itself,I hope this helps you and thanks
