Probably if from an auto parts house and they said it was compatible. Why did you switch it out? What was wrong with the factory rail?
There was a vacuum leak on a part of it and had a code p0171 and p0174 and when I did a check on the vacuum lines the fuel rail is where it showed it so I switched it out
Any ideas on getting it started
Bad vacuum is highly likely rubber connections, not steel. Rubber lines are deciveing. If you have vacuum problems, best to replace all rubber vacuum lines. Hope this helps. Do the codes still show? Did you "reset" codes? Reset is critical. If they show again. try my suggestion.
I tried to reset the codes but it still reads (service fuel system) like I stated previously I changed out the fuel rail and now the vehicle won't start. I checked the relay also hear the fuel pump click on but for some odd reason I'm getting no pressure to the fuel rail. I'm not sure if I'm missing something tried turning key on and off a few times before trying to start it and still I got nothing.

Check on a Fuel pressure regulator, probably bad shoud be on the fuel rail. If it is worn, the rail pressure will not be high enough in spite of all you have done. Sorry I didn't catch this before.

Unfortunately for you ( i had the same problem) The A/C compressor HAS to be in working order on these cars or else all heck breaks out with the climate control.
If it's a nice car, get a new compressor installed. If it's borderline- get rid of the car.
I paid 2200 to Cadillac to fix the A/C and climate control only to have the transmission fail in my '93.
I dumped the car soon thereafter....

Check for coolant flow at the Purge line,this is a common problem on the Northstar.
There is a small diameter hose coming from near the top of the coolant tank,this is the purge line.
With the engine idling,pull the purge line from the tank,if there is no coolant flow from this small hose,it is blocked and this will cause overheating.If the hose is clear, check for blockage at the nipple on the tank.

Oil pressure switches a normally located by or near the oil filter on all cars. :-)
