SOURCE: where is the fuel filter in 2002 ford explorers

The fuel filter is on the passenger side under the door near the front wheel well. It is behind a curved shield and a flat plate covering the fuel filter that is marked "fuel filter replace".
There is an aluminum plate held on with 3 13mm bolts. Remove it. Behind it there is a black plastic shield, held on with 2 10mm nuts. Remove that and you will see the fuel filter, and the bracket that holds it on.

My 2005 ford explorer sport trac will start but sputters and dies

One possible reason is a clogged fuel filter. You can check the fuel filter by blowing air through the "in" end. If no or little air is coming through, then you should replace the filter.

2001 ford explorer sport keeps blow fuel pump fuses

The most common cause of this is that the fuel pump is drawing to much current due to wear and a possible burned fuel tank connector at the tank. To replace the pump you must raise the truck up and remove the fuel tank. Also replace the fuel filter which is on the inside of the frame on the drivers side. Use a rag to cover the fuel line when disconnecting it with the required special tool.

My ford 2001 explorer was bought used what service reccomendations do you think needs to be performed it has high mileage.

High Octane fuel, replace the fluids and filters periodicaly (K&N filter work for me), use only platinum sparkplug or recommended for factory. If you have access, install LGP in there; work so fine in my Jeep 5.2L V8, the mileage is the same, but the cost is less expensive.

Good luck.

2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac V6 having issues, it tends to start hard and idle hard initially. It generally will only start if I turn the ignition and apply the gas reving the engine around 2000 rpm for...

First thing would be to replace the fuel filter. Then spark plugs. You may have a weak fuel pump. A faulty fuel pressure regulator could also cause this.

Motor dies when you have a the A/C on and you try to stop at a stop light.

This is a common problem with the 2001 Ford Explorer. The first solution is to clean out the idle air control valve. This solves the problems for 90% of Explorers. If that doesn't do it then the fuel filter is clogged and needs to be replaced. Thanks for using Fixya.

Where is the fuel filter location on a 2001 ford explorer sport trac?

It is inside the left frame rail below the drivers door, you need a special tool to release the filter from the line. filter just snaps into its metal holder. Good luck and you can get the fuel line quick release tool at most Auto Parts store.
