Fuel wont read on the gauge. sender unit maybe? just wondering where i could find a new part or how to fix the problem.

the sender should be on the top of the fuel tank hope this helps regards Jim

Check for loose connection first. Fuel senders going out all the way like that is very rare. You would get something like it would show empty when halfway full then go back up when it is almost empty and vice versa. Also make sure the new gauge is compatible since instrument clusters are electronically controlled now a days. One ways you can test a sending unit without getting into the fuel tank is to locate which wire it is going into the instrument cluster and measuring its resistance with an ohmmeter. The resistance should vary according to how much fuel is in the tank which determined by a float along with resistive winding of resistive wires (nichrome wires).

The sending unit is attached to the fuel pump module in the fuel tank. check under the back seat or in the trunk under the carpet for access to the fuel pump
