your radiator coolant might be leaking into transmission . big recall on 05 frontier models. check to see if transmission fluid is a milky color.

Im guessing this is an automatic, theres a trany dipstick, engine should be at operating temp and the truck level remove the dip stick and wipe clean then reinsert and pull out the fluid should be in the hass maxs. if this truck is manual trans then the trany is checked from under the truck, remove the fill plug on the side of the trany and fill unttil oil runs out the fill hole. hope this helps.

Check your CV or U-joints and have the transmission checked. Fluid Level and Differential Level if so equipped. If these are all good you'll want to have the transmission checked.

Check the fluid level of the transmission. Also if you haven't done so in the last 30k miles change the transmission filter/fluid and pan gasket.

It's weird but it's the problem!!! There is a switch on the transmission near the selector, usually only affects 3rd gear!!! The switch is being distorted after repetitive battering with gear selection!!! I have experienced it and also read about it in australia on a Navara!!!
