It's common for a oil light to flicker up to 30 seconds after first starting a engine. The oil drains down and the pump takes some time to pressurise the oil galleries again. If the light has not gone out with in 30 seconds you could have a bad oil pump or a faulty oil pressure sensor.
The oil light should come on while you start the car and then when it starts, the oil light should go off.
Id it is xoming kn at any other time, you may be low on oil and need to check it and add oil as necessary. If the oil level is above the add mark you should be oK. But make sure you check it when the car has been off and idle idle long enough for the oil to drain from the engine and return to the oil pan. If it persists, it could be the oil pressure sending unit or a loose or worn electrical connection. If the light still comes on, take it to a certified mechanic for diagnosis. It could be the oil pump.
