Hi i have a 2008 Saturn Astra with a code P2096 post Catalyist fuel trim to lean bank one LOOKING for some advice thanks

code p 2096 refers to post catalytic converter fuel trim(FT) bank 1---too lean ====causes --cat converter---exhaust leak
also refers to heated oxygen sensor(HO2S)1 bank 1--range/performance--circuit high===causes --wiring short to positive---HO2S
as the HO2s sensor reports to the ECM so that the air/ fuel mixture can be continually adjusted ( fuel trim) I would be looking at that unit first ( it is the sensor in the exhaust manifold / pipe before the cat converter)
There is a flexible section on the exhaust manifold that breaks under the steel braiding that can affect the HO2S working as well and the cat converter should also be checked

That code wouldn't cause it not to come out of first gear . How did you retrieve this code P2096 , code reader etc.. This is an invalid code , not listed in Saturn service information . Have DTC'S check by a GM dealer , Chevy . You obviously have a transmission problem not an O2 sensor problem . Some code readers will replace a code with an other if it doesn't have the right one . Software .

- Misfire condition
- Large vacuum leak
- Air leak near sensor
- Plugged catalytic converter
- Lean air/fuel ratio
- Faulty front O2 sensor

clear codes and move on, service it regularly, if necessary get emission test and tune up

Lean mixture code could be caused by a leakage in the rubber boot that is between the throttle body (similar to a carburetor) and the air cleaner housing. Following are all the tests to be done for a vehicle other than yours... HERE.
