Changed the battery in my 2004 Silverado 1500. Engine started up and ran fine. Did some running around and then the truck sat for a couple of days. At the next start attempt the battery was dead. --Found that the interior light were dimly flashing. --Tried the IP interior lights off button no change. --Removed the fuse for the interior lighting and lights still flashing. Do I have a short some where or did I miss a step in the battery change?

Sounds like a short. Check the wires and door switches.

What should I do about my truck next?

The question is where to start. I had an International truck that was in flood waters high enough to fill several engine cylinders with water. It had sat lang enough to seize the newly rebuilt engine. The electronics were dead so I changed the ignition system cleaned the fuel tanks replaced the fuel pump replaced all fluids. Took out spark plugs and filled the cylinders with automatic transmission and let it set for a couple of weeks. Every couple of days I would try to crank the engine over using a crowbar on the engine and finally the engine started to rotate. Cranked all the fluid out of the cylinders it started and ran for several years.
I would start by hooking up a scanner and seeing what all of the sensors are reading. Especially those in the transmission and fuel system.

My 1999 chevy silverado starts and dies within two seconds. has anyone had this experience before and how did you fix it?

does it have a b2960 security code set, i bet it does, it probably has a security problem and is going into fuel shut off, try replacing the ignition switch harness, this is 98% of the time the problem
