SOURCE: 2001 jeep grand cherokee wont reverse in

This could be an issue with the shift solenoid , but can also be caused by low fluid due to a leak, check your fluid. Is there a check engine light on, if there is it could be a solenoid issue.

Will a 95 jeep cherakee auto trans fit in 98 jeep cheokee

if your engine is AMC I6 high output version, it may wont fit without doing small modifications. if it is not high output version it will. transfer case differs model to model. np242 selectrac and np231command trac. they have little difference on 4wd systems. all have 2wd option.

actually it is supposed to have same transmission versions between 1988 to 2001. Aisin-Warner AW4.

I have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee laredo with transmission problems, what type of transmission is it if its an automatic ?

Trans could be an AW4 or a chrysler unit. AW4 pan is longer than it is wide chrysler one is nearly square with a corner cut off. Ones with a v8 usually have the chrysler trans.

42re>>aw4 swap

Far s I know it fits...make sure you have the correct torque converter for the unit you want to install. Only thing I'm not positive of is if the transfer case fits but pretty sure it does.Upi may need to change some linkage too. I have a AW4 in my 93 and I know there isn't a different engine configuration.

Tranny type

You likely have either an aw4 or a chrysler 727 in there (depends on engine) 727 has the reverse/neutral switch above the rear left corner of the pan. AW4 does not (and is smaller) To better identify, there should be an id tag on there somewhere!
