I have a 95 quest and the tail lights are always on if the headlights or running lights are on. If the lights are off the tail lights work perfectly fine could this be a brake light switch or am I going to have to look for a problem in the wiring ?

SOURCE: tail lights and brake lights not working with headlights on

We had the same problem with ours, that is a Saturn recall items. Check with your Saturn dealer to see if it is still in effect. It use to make our headlight switch get hot. I think it was a poor ground in the taillight housing, I use to wiggle the bulb plug-ins and that helped for a while, but after the recall was fixed it never did it again.

SOURCE: Headlights don't work.

There is a circuit breaker inside the headlight switch body. It gets weak over time and use. The breaker is actually mentioned in the owners manual. A new switch is about $75.00 at the local parts store. You must remove the front of the dash to change the switch. Mine would go off and then in about 30 seconds reset and the lights would come back on. I would be driving down the road with my headlights flashing as the circuit breaker opened and closed. New switch = problem fixed.

SOURCE: 95' Buick regal, 3rd brake light works, tail

I dont have a diagram but the brake light switch has to feed the turn signal switch, Either that wire has a bad connection, or the turn signal switch is bad. Jiggle the turn signal lever and see if the brake lights try to work.

Dash tail and headlights quit 95 neon ????

On most modern cars, the dash lights, tail lights, and headlights are on different fuses, but are all controlled by the light switch. Check the fuses first. If all are blown, you have a major wiring problem, a short. If they are not, the problem is probably in the switch.

Car: 2000 Chev Cavalier 4dr 2.2L? 4 cylinder car? My problem is this my low dim lights are very low, my high beams works only when I hold the lever arm ? (Not sure how to explain this?) any ideas what...

First, be sure that the headlights are actually coming on. These cars have daytime running lights that use the headlight bulbs at a lower voltage. If the car is only using the daytime running lights, the tail lights will not be on with the headlights. The multifunction lever always turns on the high beams when you pull on it (it's called 'flash to pass'). Make sure the headlight switch is working, and also check the headlight circuit breaker.

Hello sir. I have a 95' Buick Regal. Whenever I turn the headlights on the rear brake light fuse blows out and the tail lights stop working. The headlight switch has already been replace with a new one...

Well, yes, look for damaged and grounded running light and brake light wiring, start at the tail light itself, I usually use a circuit breaker in place of the fuse, for diagnostic purposes and then follow along the wiring with an inductive amp meter. the meter will react until you pass the damaged area, at which time you get nothing. It is likely that the issue is not the headlight switch, as two switches do the same thing..

Nissan Quest 2004 Tail Lights

Robynumber1,

Thanks for the email back. The nissan quest tail lights werenot operating, but the break lights were working. This was ultimately caused by a blown fuse. The fuse was blown by loose trailer lighting wires dragging on the ground, thus shorting. Problem fixed.
